RocketGro – Cannington Automation Expansion

Bulk Automation is proud to announce the successful completion of a major automation expansion for RocketGro at its Cannington facility. This project supports RocketGro’s ongoing growth and increasing market demand. At the same time, it maximises available floor space within the existing operation.

Seamless Integration for Increased Efficiency

The expansion integrates smoothly with RocketGro’s current production line. From the outset, the project demanded careful planning, precise engineering, and close collaboration between teams. Despite the challenges of a confined site layout, the final solution increases capacity, improves efficiency, and delivers a future-ready system designed to scale.

Advanced Bulk Handling and Conveying

At the core of the upgrade is a new growing media hopper and conveying system, engineered and supplied by Bulk Automation. Designed to deliver consistent and controlled material flow, the system ensures reliable feeding of growing media into the packaging line. In addition, the custom-built hopper and conveyors match RocketGro’s product characteristics and site constraints. As a result, the solution reduces manual handling, minimises downtime, and improves throughput and safety.

Vertical Form Fill & Seal Packaging Machine

To further increase output, Bulk Automation supplied and integrated a vertical form fill & seal (VFFS) machine. This system delivers accurate weighing, consistent bag formation, and high-speed operation. Moreover, it integrates seamlessly with the new conveying system and existing equipment. Together, these elements create a smooth and efficient packaging process from start to finish.

Robotic Palletising for End-of-Line Automation

Finally, the upgrade is completed with a robotic palletiser that provides fully automated end-of-line handling. The robot stacks finished bags onto pallets with speed and precision. Consequently, the system reduces manual labour, improves consistency, and enhances workplace safety. This automation enables RocketGro to manage higher production volumes with confidence while preparing the facility for future expansion.
