R & E Bamford Ltd is a family run business founded in the 1930’s, they have recently taken delivery of their bag preparation conveying and end of line robotic palletiser to enable the automatic palletising of 20/25kg bags of bird feed.

The robot can be switched from palletising 20kg to 25kg bags in seconds using the operator friendly HMI touch screen. The refurbished ABB 6400R was the choice for this particular application due to its excellent reputation for reliability, capability, precision, and reach ability.

“Our previous manual palletising system was incredibly labour intensive and we often had operators waiting around for the next batch as obviously they had to be there ready to stack the bags when they arrived. Installing the new system has enabled us to relocate our staff to other areas in the company. The Bulk Automation team had the line installed within a couple of days without any interruption to our day to day production which was ideal, the machine is doing a great job and we’re very pleased with it. ”
